Ghostrunner won’t launch – Having a tough time in trying to launch Ghostrunner on your PC? Here are some potential fixes that you can try.
Ghostrunner | Game won’t launch/start – How to fix
505 Games is back with another AAA release. And this time it is one of the most anticipated games of 2020, Ghostrunner. The game is finally here and it is safe to say that players couldn’t get enough of it.
Ghostrunner is probably one of the best Action games of this year and you can easily tell by looking at the reviews from the community and the reviewers.
But there is a problem. A lot of posts have started popping on the forums. And what are these posts about? Well, it looks like a lot of players are having difficulties at getting the game to launch or start. For some, it could be because of the low powered hardware in their systems. But even people with really high end gaming rigs are facing this issue. So this problem has nothing to do with PC hardware.
Now the main question is, are there any fixes for this issue? You see the problem is, it is hard say specifically what is causing this issue. Startup issues can be triggered by various things. And the situation is different for different users. And if the issue is from the side of developers, then forget fixing it by yourself. Still, here are some fixes that you can try.
How to fix this issue
The first thing you need to check is whether you are selecting at the correct API while launching Ghostrunner. As soon as you hit the Play button on your launcher, the game gives you two options, DirectX 11 and DirectX 12. Try both at APIs and see which one is working for you.
The next thing you should consider doing is, try running the executable file or .exe file of Ghostrunner as admin. Just head over to the folder where you have installed Ghostrunner. Right click on Ghostrunner.exe and select Properties. Now click on the Compatibility and check the box beside “Run this program as an administrator”. Instead of Steam or EGL, start the game directly by double-clicking on the exe file.
Check whether your Anti-virus software is blocking the game or not. This has happened to a lot of games this year. The executable of Ghostrunner may be getting silently quarantined by some antivirus software, preventing the game from launching. The developers are working to resolve this; in the meantime, you may need to disable Real-Time Scanning function or Real-Time Protection function of your Anti-virus to play. If you do not want to completely disable the software, then you will have to add the .exe (Ghostrunner.exe) of Ghostrunner on the Exceptions list of your AV Software.
Also try downloading and installing the latest version of Visual C++ redistributable, as there’s a chance it hasn’t been installed correctly.
And finally, if none of the fixes mentioned above work for you then there is no other choice but to re-install the game completely. In case you have the demo version of Ghostrunner installed, un-install it and then try re-installing the full game.
