One of the biggest releases of 505 Games, Ghostrunner, is finally here. The hype for this game was strong before the launch, the hype is still strong after the launch. You can easily call this one of most anticipated titles of 2020.
It is now a pretty common fact that new releases these days, especially the big ones, don’t come without bugs and glitches onboard. Ghostrunner is no different. Apparently a lot of people who bought Ghostrunner on Steam are facing an issue where the download of the game is stuck. No matter what they do the installation bar is reluctant to make any sort of progress.
Now, Ghostrunner is not only available on Steam. Epic Games and GOG are also on the list. But the other launchers are not facing any issue of this sort. It is mainly the Steam users. People have already tried pausing and then resuming the download, restarting the download, restarting Steam, restart their PC, etc. But nothing seems to help. So people have already started thinking that this is a bug. I have already seen some people refunding the game because of this.
Is this actually a bug?
Well, the truth is this is neither a bug nor a glitch. If you are an Epic Games user and facing this issue. Then the chances are the download might have gotten bugged. But if you are a Steam user, then this is quite normal.
Epic Games users can fix this by simply pausing the download and resuming it again, or by just restarting the launcher. Steam users on the other hand, If you go and look at the download folder of Steam you will notice that there is nothing over there. Steam will actually download the installer file first. And once the downloading is completed the unpacking will take place.
When your download speed hits 0 and Steam is showing that Ghostrunner is still being downloaded, that is not what actually is happening. It is unpacking the game instead.
The download size of Ghostrunner is around 25 GB on PC. So all you have to do is wait for a while. The process is really fast on a SSD but HDD users would have to be a bit patient. This is actually very common for AAA games nowadays.
