Evil Dead: The Game is finally available for people to try. The game is a total switch from the traditional Evil Dead titles and is doing quite well so far. Fans are liking it, and people who haven’t played or watched Evil Dead in their life, are enjoying it as well. It is just the perfect game to play with friends.
Anyway, it looks like the PC players are really struggling with the game. Evil Dead 2022, on PC, has a ton of bugs and errors. I just covered a bug just a few minutes ago and was hoping when another is going to pop out. And here we are.
So the bug or error that I am talking about in the article is the one where people are getting stuck at the “Please Wait” screen of Evil Dead, and the link that is supposed to fix this is showing “Error 404 Page Not Found”. Take a look at what a Reddit user has to say:
When I boot up the game and get past the “SABER” screen, it shows “Please Wait” and opens up a web browser with a link, probably to confirm a login or something.
That then leads to a 404 page not found and does nothing else. Game sticks on a screen that says “Please wait…”
I have a local friend of mine who is able to start up the game and get to the main menu, so it must be something with me.
Any ideas?
This is really frustrating, as this bug is literally not allowing people to even get into the game; forget playing it. So, is there a fix for this issue?
How to fix the Evil Dead Stuck at the “Please Wait” screen and Error 404 bug
- Close Evil Dead first, if you have it running
- Open Epic Games Launcher
- Click on your Profile Icon, on the top-right of the launcher
- Click on “Account”
- Your default internet browser will open, and you will be redirected to your Epic Games Account page
- Close the Epic Games Launcher for the moment
- Select “PASSWORD & SECURITY”, from the left bar
- Scroll down to the “SIGNOUT EVERYWHERE” section, and click on “Sign out other sessions” to sign out of everything
- Now scroll up, and set a new password
- Save changes
- Now relaunch EGL, and relaunch Evil Dead
The issue should get fixed by now. This is the only fix that has been confirmed by many people to be working. There is another one. But, from what I have seen, only two Reddit user has confirmed that it works.
Apparently, this issue is being caused by anti-cheat software running in the background. If you have EAC, Vanguard/Riot Client, or any anti-cheat software running in the background; close it.
