Firefighting Simulator – Menu Bug fix

It looks like a lot of users are facing an issue in the game where the in-game menu is getting bugged. According to the users who are facing the issue, the menu seems to be just flashing the cursor. And they are not being able to click anything.

Multiple posts have started popping up on the Steam Discussions page of Firefighting Simulator. Here is what some users have to say.

Menu issue?

Does anyone else have an issue with the menu just flashing the cursor but not being able to click anything?

User /dig!c says:

Menu bugged?
The main menu is flickering and the clicking of menu items refuses to happen.

How to fix this bug?

Fortunately there is a fix for this bug and it has been confirmed to be working by many users. A developer has also recommended the fix, here is what he has to say:

We are sorry to hear about your technical problems.

It seems that some controller models (and/or other additional input devices) can cause the disappearance of the mouse cursor. Please try to unplug your controller and/or other additional input devices and check whether the mouse cursor becomes visible again and your are able to click on the menu entries.

So what he is suggesting is, you unplug all your controllers from your PC and they try playing the game. Every single person who was experiencing this bug confirmed that they had controllers plugged in to their PC.

So why does this bug happens? Well user /Zaphod has a perfect explanation for this:

Yes, for me it was also a x56 HOTAS.

The problem is probably that the game “detects” input from the joystick and perceives it as a controller input, thereby switching control scheme. When you have both a mouse moving and controller input, the mode switches back and forth quickly, resulting in said flickering.

One possible fix is to implement following two things:
* It should be possible to use menus with mouse even with active controller input.
* It should be possible to disable game pad in the menus.
