Far Cry 6 No Sound or Audio Bug fix

Far Cry 6 No Sound or Audio Bug – It looks like some people are experiencing an audio bug in the PC version of Far Cry 6, that is breaking the in-game sound of the game. Is there a fix? Let’s find out.

Far Cry 6 – No Sound or Audio Bug – How to fix

Far Cry 6 is out now, and millions of Far Cry fans are queuing up to download and enjoy the game. Judging from the player count of the previous Far Cry games, I can safely say that this franchise is one of the most popular franchises in the world of gaming.

But, as things go with AAA releases nowadays. Most of them come with a handful of bugs, errors, and glitches. Don’t get me wrong, Far Cry 6 is an awesome game. It is just the technical side of the game, that needs some work. The game has its fair share of issues, with more popping up every few minutes.

So what is up with this ‘no sound’ bug? Well, It is a bug that a lot of PC players are currently experiencing in the game. The bug is causing the game to go completely mute. Sound is available only during some intro videos and animated cutscenes. Some are getting menu sounds, while some aren’t.

This seems to be a common bug that a lot of players are experiencing at the moment, as there are a lot of posts regarding this on the Ubisoft forum for Far Cry 6.

How to fix the no sound or audio bug

The funny thing is, I had encountered this bug in AC Valhalla on its launch day. And almost a year later, I faced the same bug in Far Cry 6 too. Fortunately, I did manage to fix the bug back then. I applied the same method. And guess what? It still works. Here is what you need to do:

  1. You need to start Ubisoft Connect first
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Set the Language to English
  4. Launch Far Cry 6
  5. Now, choose the language of your choice from the in-game settings menu. And this should fix the audio bug

If this doesn’t end up working for you, then there are some more fixes that you can try. Try changing your audio output:

  1. Right-click the speaker in your system tray (lower right)
  2. Open Sound Settings
  3. Under the Sound Tab, make sure your Output Device is the device you wish to hear the sound on
  4. Make sure that you have Spatial Sound or Windows Sonic off. Windows Sonic is a bit buggy at the moment.

I went through a lot of Reddit posts and I realized that a lot of USB headphones or Wireless Headphones users are facing this issue. I myself have faced this issue plenty of times in other games, with my Logitech G733. Try playing the game with any pair of headphones that has a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Any 3.5 mm would do. Even the ones that you get with your phone. Don’t forget to verify the game files via as well, if nothing else works.

Should you re-install audio drivers?

Many other sources might advise you to re-install your audio drivers. Do not do that! A corrupted audio driver won’t specifically affect a single game. It will affect your entire system. So as long as you are able to hear everything else, no need to re-install drivers.

Run other games and check your sound. Go for fresh driver installation if you face the same issue in other games as well. Go to the official website of your Motherboard, and download the drivers from there. Don’t just download from a random website.

If the problem you are facing is a serious one, then go here and submit a case to the Ubisoft support. And don’t forget to check out the Ubisoft Forum for Far Cry 6.

  1. Happened also to me playing the PS5 version.
No helicopter sound, no gunfire… some sounds are there, some not.
Even the text wasn’t spoken anymore, which made the subtitles freak out… seems like they are coupled on how long a char talks, but if nothing talkes, the text flies by.

  2. The voices are OK in dialog, but the narration sounds like mumbling. Playing as a male there was a female narrator that we couldn’t understand no matter how we adjusted the sound. Changed the voice to male, but we still can’t understand what they are saying in narration. We have not had sound problems in any other games. The sound issue is a big distraction in the game.
