F1 2020 – Black Screen Bug – How to fix

It looks like a lot of people who bought F1 2020 on Steam are facing the Black Screen issue whenever they are trying to play the game. The name of the bug is pretty self-explanatory.

The bug is causing people to experience nothing but a black screen in-game. The game sounds are present but there are no visuals. The settings menu is visible so that is a relief.

People are already showing their frustration over the Codemasters forums. And this is totally understandable as there are a lot of people who eagerly wait for F1 titles every year. It gives them the feeling of driving real race cars on different circuits.

How to fix the black screen bug

An user called BrunoF07 has already posted about this issue over the Codemasters Forums. He has the Deluxe edition of F1 2020 and he was also facing the Black Screen problem.

Thankfully, one of the developers was quick to reply on his post and the fix he suggested actually worked. The developer asked the forum user to update his Nvidia driver first. Then he asked him to go to the Video mode of the game and change the ‘Anti-aliasing setting’ to anything other than ‘DLSS’. And that was it.

If you are having trouble finding the Anti-aliasing setting then here is where you can find it:

  • Go to Game Options
  • Select Settings
  • Select Graphics Options
  • Click on Video Mode
  • Now look for the Anti-aliasing setting from the list
  • Change it to anything other than DLSS. I have TAA and FidelityFX Sharpening selected
