Empire of Sin Crashing fix, Game won’t launch fix

Empire of Sin is finally here, and the game is doing fairly well so far. It is a decent title and I am pretty sure people who like strategy games like Wasteland 3, would like this as well.

That doesn’t mean that the game is perfect though. Empire of Sin has it’s fair share of issues. A lot of players have already started complaining about issues like the crashing and launching issues. Here are the issues that Empire of Sin PC players are experiencing along with some steps to fix them.

Crashing fix

Empire of Sin is crashing for some users. Here are the things you can do to fix it.

Update your drivers and operating system to resolve any compatibility issues. This should be an obvious step by now. The newer the drivers are, the better will be their compatibility.

There is a chance that the random crashes in Empire of Sin are being caused by an overclocking application or utility running in the background. A lot of games have been suffering from crashes lately due to applications like MSI Afterburner or Zotac firestorm. So it is best to stay on the safe side and run your graphics card on default speeds.

If you are getting errors like “vcruntime140_1.dll missing” or “MSVCP140.dll was not found”. The go ahead and install latest version of Visual C++ redistributable, as there’s a chance it hasn’t been installed correctly.

Game won’t launch fix

Empire of Sin won’t even launch for some users at all. Here are the things you can do to fix it.

The launching/starting failure could be due to some corrupted files in the directory. You can fix that by simply verifying the game via Steam to check whether your system is missing any files that might be causing the game to crash or freeze:

  • Go to your Steam Library
  • Right click on Empire of Sin
  • Select Properties
  • Click on the Local Files tab
  • Click on Verify Integrity of Game Files

In some cases, the executable file of Empire of Sin is getting silently quarantined by some antivirus software, preventing the game from launching. You might need to disable Real-Time Scanning function or Real-Time Protection function of your Anti-virus to play. If you do not want to completely disable the software, then you will have to add the .exe of Empire of Sin on the Exceptions list of your AV Software.

Avoid the Steam once and try to run the executable file or .exe of Empire of Sin as admin, directly from the installation directory. Here is how to do it:

  1. Go to the Installation folder of Empire of Sin
  2. Right Click on .exe file
  3. Go to Compatibility tab
  4. Check “Run this program as an administrator

Finally, if none of the fixes mentioned above work for you, then you have no choice but to re-install the game. So try doing a fresh installation.

These are all the fixes we have at the moment for people for whom Empire of Sin is crashing or won’t launch. We will be adding more soon. Click here to visit the Steam discussions page of Empire of Sin.
