Destiny 2 – How to get Orpheus Rig

Orpheus Rig – Description

Orpheus Rig is an Exotic Leg Armor for the Hunter class in Destiny 2. It is one of the best Exotics that you can get for the Hunter class and it makes the top tree of Shadowshot that much better. Orpheus Rig is a must have for people who do Raids and endgame activities regularly. Especially after the Lunafaction Boots nerf the usefullness of this Exotic has increased even further

Intrinsic Perk

Uncanny Arrows – Provides ability energy for each enemy tethered by Deadfall anchors. Moebius Quiver has more shots.

Where to find the Orpheus Rig

Lets me start by saying that the Orpheus Rig is a random drop and the drop chance is completely based on RNG. With that being said, there are plenty of ways to farm for this Exotic. They are:

Exotic Engrams

Orpheus Rig has a chance to drop from Exotic Engrams that drop randomly while doing PvE activities. An Exotic Engram can drop from any source. It can come from a rank and file enemy, a powerful enemy or a boss. The more exotics you have in your collection book the better your chances of getting the Orpheus Rig from an Exotic Engram will get.

Nightfall Ordeal

If you ask me the Nightfall Ordeal at the Master difficulty is probably one of the best locations for farming Exotics right now. The drop rate is insane. Yes the runs might prove to be extremely difficult if you are low level. But if you manage to put together a good team of decent power level with the right weapons and gear then you won’t even feel a thing. And it everything goes right then you would showered with exotic armor and weapons.

Nightfall Chests

The chests that spawn after you eliminate the bosses of normal Nightfalls, also have a decent chance of dropping Exotics. Before the Shadowkeep update when there was no such thing as Nightfall Ordeal. I used to farm normal Nightfalls for exotics and the majority of the Exotics weapons and armor are from those Nightfall chests.

I don’t know about others but I have got a lot of Exotic gear after completing a normal Quickplay match inside Crucible. Now I don’t know whether Crucible has an increased chance of dropping exotics just because it is PvP which suppose to be quite challenging or not.

Some of my Exotics like the Astrocyte Verse or the Phoenix protocol which I failed to get from PvE activities, dropped for me in Crucible.

The chests you get at various locations inside all the Raids or the rewards you get after clearing encounters in Raids also have a huge chance of dropping Exotic Gear. According to me, The Last Wish raid has been the most rewarding among all the Raids in Destiny 2.

Xur, Agent of the Nine is a vendor in Destiny 2 who arrives every week at different locations. If you are new to Destiny 2 then let me tell you that Xur is one of the best source of obtaining Exotic weapons and armor in the game. Here are all the set locations of Xur where he normally arrives:

  • Winding Cove – EDZ
  • Barge – Watcher’s Grave – Nessus
  • Giant’s Scar – IO
  • Hangar – Tower (Social)
  • The Rig – Titan

His Inventory normally consists of an Exotic weapon, an Exotic Hunter armor, an Exotic Titan armor and an Exotic Warlock armor. You can purchase these Exotics with 27 Legendary shards.

He arrives every Friday at 10 AM PT. You can bookmark Frondtech as we post his exact location every week when he arrives.

Fated Engrams

Since we have talked about Xur, we should also mention about the Fated Engrams he brings with him every week. A Fated Engram is like an Exotic Engram that you can buy from Xur with 97 Legendary Shards. It is a lot of Legendary Shards for someone who is new to the game. But for a guaranteed Exotic it is quite worth it.
You can buy 1 Fated Engram from each character which means you can buy a total of 3 Fated Engrams every week.

Those are all the ways of obtaining the Orpheus Rig in Destiny 2.
