Another day another exotic hand cannon in Destiny 2. And this time it is the Lumina. The Lumina is an exotic hand cannon that has arrived in Destiny 2 on July 2nd. This exotic hand cannon is part of the Season of Opulence update therefore only annual pass holders can obtain this weapon.
Now we all know how getting exotic weapons work in Destiny 2. Similarly, there is a quest tied to Lumina as well that you have to complete in order to get it. The quest is pretty similar to the Thorn quest and does require some grinding. Here is how you can get the Lumina in Destiny 2:
Destiny 2 – How To Get The Lumina Exotic Hand Cannon
How to get Lumina in Destiny 2 Step #1
In order to acquire the quest of Lumina you need to first go to Salt Mines in EDZ. This is the same place where you got your Thorn quest from. Enter Salt Mines, reach the end and you see a place where you can press E to transmat.

Once you arrive at the new location just keep moving until you find a cave. Go through the cave and you will see the chest sitting at a distance.
How to get Lumina in Destiny 2 Step #3
Open the chest and two things will drop for you. A Fateful Gift and System Positioning Device.
How to get Lumina in Destiny 2 Step #4
Now according to the System Positioning Device you need to go to the lost sector mentioned for you. Our System Positioning Device had Shaft 13 lost sector at The Gulch on EDZ written on it.
How to get Lumina in Destiny 2 Step #5
Enter Shaft 13 and keep moving forward until you find a room with double doors. Just enter that room and you will see the chest sitting there. Here is a screenshot showing the room:
How to get Lumina in Destiny 2 Step #6
Open the chest and the Bearer Of Evils Past quest step will drop for you where you will be asked to generate 250 orbs. I did just one Escalation Protocol run with my Riskrunner(with catalyst) and and the quest step was complete in no time.
How to get Lumina in Destiny 2 Step #7
After you complete the Bearer Of Evil Past quest step you get the Rose hand cannon, the Rose Revealed Exotic quest and three legendary quest steps. Here are the activities that those quest steps will ask you to do:
- Complete a Nightfall with 50,000 score or higher
- Complete 35 encounters at Blind Well, Black Armory forger or Escalation Protocols
- Defeat multiple enemies in a row without reloading your gun
Completing one quest step will unlock a perk on the Rose hand cannon. Complete all those three legendary quest steps and you will complete the Rose Revealed quest step.
How to get Lumina in Destiny 2 Step #8
In the next quest step you will be asked to do various activities in order to fill the bar. I completed this quest step by speed running the Lake Of Shadows strike with my friends who were also carrying the Rose, a couple of times. Each run takes around 5 minutes and you get 12% progress upon completion. But remember every member of your team must have the Rose equipped.
You can also try doing Menagerie runs as it grants 35% progress but it takes way longer. So I would say strikes are the best option here.
How to get Lumina in Destiny 2 Step #9
You are almost at the end of the quest. Now all do have to do is :
- Get Hand Cannon kills in crucible. Do it with your friends because your progress bar will fill up if your friend gets a kill and vice versa
- Defeat an Invader before he kills any player from your team inside the Gambit Playlist
- Generate 50 Orbs. You can use supers and fully masterworked weapons for this
How to get Lumina in Destiny 2 Step #10
Finally you need to head into the Will of the Thousands strike on Mars and destroy 11 of the various Hive crystals that you will find throughout the strike with your Rose. End the quest by defeating Xol and you will immediately get your Lumina.
You are good to go!
