Cyberpunk 2077 – Talk to Dum Dum Bug – Second Conflict – How to fix

The “Talk to Dum Dum” mission is bugged in Second Conflict in Cyberpunk 2077. Is there a fix? Let’s find out.

Dum Dum is missing in the Second Conflict Mission in Cyberpunk 2077

What is this bug all about?

It has been almost two weeks since Cyberpunk 2077 got released and I have to say, this is probably one of roughest launches I have ever seen in my life. I really don’t want to go into the details again. Because I am pretty sure the whole world knows at this point, that what is going on.

The game already has a lot of bugs and there are more popping up every day. But I am specifically talking about the Second Conflict mission bug. There is a part in the Second Conflict mission where you are asked to “Talk to Dum Dum”. But the mission is getting bugged for a lot of players in this part. As a result, Dum Dum is missing for a lot of them. Actually he is not missing. Among the three guys standing in front of you, Dum Dum is the one on the left. He is supposed to get up and reveal that he is Dum Dum.

Here is a proper description of the bug by a CDPR Forum user called /trip9:

Playing on a PS5, patch 1.0.5. I take the elevator upstairs to the entrance to Totentanz but when I get to the door I get the mission update to “talk to Dum Dum”, but he’s not there, there’s only 3 Maelstrom labeled “fanatic”. No way to continue the mission.

I’ve tried saving and reloading from multiple points, tried jumping back a mission and playing from there, I’ve tried getting up to the bug and fast traveling around (once I leave the area there’s no exclamation point showing me where to go anymore).

This is really pissing me off, I fought through continuous crashes and other smaller bugs, but haven’t been hit with something game breaking until now. At this point I might just refund the game, does anyone know if you get to keep your save if you do?

This is stopping players from progressing further in the game as this is a main quest. CDPR said that they have already fixed this bug with the lastest v1.05 patch. But looks like, they were either not telling the truth or they forgot about this. I can only imagine how frustrating this is.

Is there a fix yet?

Well, there is a fix for this bug. But I am not sure if I would like to call it a “fix”. It is more of a workaround. CDPR has officially announced that they are investigating the “Second Conflict bug” and for now this is the workaround that they have recommended:

We are currently looking into the issue where Dum Dum is missing during the quest “Second Conflict”.

For a potential workaround follow the steps below (note, an earlier gamesave is required):

  1. Load a gamesave before Calling Nancy during the previous quest “Holdin’ On”.
  2. Fast Travel to “All Foods”.
  3. Call Nancy and continue with the questline, see if Dum Dum is present during the “Second Conflict” quest.

But there is problem here. Till now I have seen only one user confirm that this workaround works. Forum user /Nux said:

This works great! Thank you

Didn’t have to install 1.04. Just go to All Foods station and call Nancy from there. That’s all.
No need to go into All Foods or anything. Just go to the station before calling Nancy.

PS: If you need directions to All Foods, there is map here.

Here is a link to the original post. You will find hundreds of players commenting on it.

You can obviously wait for CDPR to release an official fix. But considering how bad the situation is for them right now, I wouldn’t count on that. Also, if the fix ends up working for you, please let everybody know in the comment section below.
