Cyberpunk 2077 Johnny Subtitles Stuck – It looks like some subtitles of Johnny Silverhand are getting stuck on the screen of a lot of people. This guide will show you how to fix it.
The Johnny Subtitles Are Stuck For Many Players
What is this bug all about
It has been almost a month since Cyberpunk 2077 got released and I have to say, this is probably one of roughest AAA launches I have ever seen in my life. This is probably worse than the launch of Anthem. I really don’t want to go into the details again. Because I am pretty sure the whole world knows at this point, that what is going on.
The game already has a lot of bugs and there are more popping up every day. But I am specifically talking about the “Johnny Subtitles Bug” here. The bug is causing the subtitles of Johnny’s dialogues to get stuck on the screen, even when he is nowhere around. The line from Johnny that is getting stuck for most people is ,”Ha. House is rakin’ it in. Wonder what the boss has to say about it.“
Here is a proper description of the bug by a CDPR Forum user called /ma5ttias:
I have a bug with Johnny. The subtitle from his quote as seen in the picture won’t disappear. They are stuck on the screen and follow me around. Every time I load the game or fast travel anywhere I can hear him repeat the voice line. It creates problems as it seems like when people call me their first line is muted always thanks to Johnny’s line. Does anyone have a work around to get rid of it?
Do not want to go back as I have about 3h in the game before the bug occurred. I have tried to respond to the game. I have tried to restart the computer. Nothing seems work.
There are a lot of comments from others players who are experiencing the same issue on the post. Here is one from /Dartigor:
The Johnny Silverhand line just dont go away. I tried reloading the game but as soon as i spawn he says it again and it gets stuck. Other subtitles of other conversations simply overlap with this one.
CDPR said that they have already fixed most of the bugs with the latest v1.06 patch. But looks like, they were either not telling the truth or they forgot about this. As this bug has been reported just few days after the game released. I can only imagine how frustrating this is.
How to fix the Johnny Subtitles bug
The good news is, there is already plenty of fixes for this bug. And so far they have worked for most of the players who have tried it.
This fix was suggested by CDPR Forum user /ma5ttias himself. According to him, all you need to do is:
- Go into sound and turn off all subtitles.
- Make a new save.
- Get yourself eliminated and reload the save you just made.
- Turn back on the subtitles.
- Get yourself eliminated once again and reload the save.
- And that is all you need to do.
The second fix comes from another CDPR Forum user /entropoint:
What I did:
– Loaded save game (with Johnny saying his sentence)
– Went to next fast travel point
– Fast traveled to Calendron Street (most South West point in Watson)
After the loading screen: Johnny said now a different line and it was gone.
Then I traveled to a different location and saved the game.
Verified the solution by loading the old buggy save game and reloaded the new bug free save game.
Johnny is now silenced

You can obviously wait for CDPR to release an official fix. But considering how bad the situation is for them right now, I wouldn’t count on that. Also, if the fixes end up working for you, please let everybody know in the comment section below.
