Cyberpunk 2077 – Black Screen Bug – How to fix

Cyberpunk 2077 black screen fix – This guide will show you how to fix the Black Screen error in Cyberpunk 2077.

How to fix the Black Screen issue in Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is finally out across all the platforms. And so far the game is doing extremely well. There is no doubt that it is one of the best RPG titles of this decade. But that doesn’t take away the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 still has some errors and bugs that CD PROJEKT RED needs to fix. The Black Screen issue is one of them.

A lot of PC users are experiencing this bug or error. Here are the things you can do to fix it.

How to fix

The black screen issue can be easily fixed. All you have to do it go to the website of either Nvidia of AMD(depending on your graphics card). And download and install the latest graphics driver manually.

I know this doesn’t seem like an actual fix, but this is actually the only fix available right now that is confirmed to be working. There are a ton of posts regarding the black screen issue on the Steam Discussions page of Cyberpunk. And a lot of users have already managed to fix this error.

Here is what Steam user /Zihouzen has to say regarding this :

Ok, I managed to get the black screen out and can see now. I have geforce graphics card so I went directly to the website to get the new driver that came out today and manually downloaded and installed the driver. Now I can see. If it’s actually going to let me play and not crash is another story. Hope this helps.

To which another user with the name /GreyArcine :

I also have a Geforce card and in my bashing away at it I finally decided to do the same and download the driver again directly from the website. This also worked for me. Glad to see someone beat me to posting it.

And here is a comment from a Radeon user :

I successfully defeated the black screen!

I have a Radeon card and did a google search for ‘update drivers for <card name>’, after someone on these threads suggested I go and manually seek out an update, being as many manufacturers have put out an update today (or within the past few days).

This led me to download, from Radeon’s site, a program that uninstalled an re-installed all my video card’s drivers — basically, a complete reset of the drivers.

After that finished, and after the requisite restart, I had video!

I strongly recommend following a similar procedure, to acquire the LATEST updates for your video card.

I did look at many other posts on the Black Screen issue on Steam. And I couldn’t find anything else other than this one fix. Here is the link to the original post on Steam.
