COD Modern Warfare slow download speed – Experiencing extremely slow download speed while downloading or updating COD MW on the Battle.net app? Here is how to fix it.
Call of Duty (COD) Modern Warfare – Slow download speed on Battle.net – How to fix
[Note : This post is not sponsored]
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 has been out for a while now. And it is easily the best COD title of the recent times. The game has something for every sort of player. Which allowed the game to gain extremely popularity.
But we cannot deny the fact that despite being a really good game, Modern Warfare has its fair share of problems. Players have experienced innumerable amount of bugs, glitches, errors and performance issues since the launch. The game was constantly crashing and players had to spend more time fixing the game rather than playing it. That is when we came out with a Performance Guide for COD MW. If you want you can check it out.
Thankfully most of the issues are gone now and the game runs quite well. But there are still some problems that have not been addressed by Infinity Ward. One of them is extremely slow download speeds while downloading or updating Call of Duty Modern Warfare. This is actually a huge problem because Call of Duty Modern Warfare is a huge game and it often gets updates that range from 20GB – 50GB in size. Imagine downloading a 50 GB patch with your download speed stuck at 1 MBPS.
Now, if you are not facing this issue then consider yourself lucky as there are hundreds of posts on the official Blizzard forum on this bug.
How to fix slow download speed
The funny thing you will see hundreds of fixes for this bug or issue on the internet. But trust me, none of them work. By trying those fixes you will be just wasting your time and nothing else. So how to fix this problem?
Well, I am afraid that there is no “free fix” for this issue. And I am telling this because I was struggling from the exact same issue. I have a 200 MB/s Fiber connection where I get a download speed of 20-25 MB/s almost everywhere. But on the Battle.net app I was getting only 1-1.5 MB/s. And it is very frustrating as you have to sit for hours before you can even launch the game.
That is when I decided to try out a VPN. I already had a year long subscription to a VPN called Private Internet Access. So all I did was:
- Installed Private Internet Access
- Set VPN Server to US New York City
- Restarted the Battle.net application
- Restarted the download
My download speed went from 1-1.5 MB/s to 8-9 MB/s. Yes I know that it is not 25 MB/s but it is way better than waiting countless hours for a single update to download.
The slow download speed is not an issue from the side of your connection. It is a server related issue which can only be fixed by the developers. I have tried downloading other games from Battle.net as well and every time I got my full download speed.
You can use any good VPN for this actually. You have to just make sure that the VPN you are choosing doesn’t have data limits.
If you have a fix that doesn’t require you to use any VPN or any third-party application then do let me know in the comment section below. Also, if you are facing problems that are not mentioned on this article then also you can comment below. I will try to come out with a fix. Good luck!
That’s all folks!

use touch vpn its free and it works
thank you sooo much
This is actually correct. How bizarre, I’m guessing battle.net has some server issues where I am (Europe).
I just switch to “Americas” in the Region setting just above the Update button. The Europe servers are always congested but the US servers seem fine most of the time. No need for a VPN either
Download a Free Mouse Clicker App and set Interval at somewhere around 2.3ms to doubleclick and set it up at the pause/play button on blizzard app.
explanation: my download stays normal (5-10mbps) for somewhat like 2 secs after resuming download, and then restricting it again, so, repeating this move works for me
thx bro, works fine with perfect privacy vpn
Your ISP sells you speed in Mbps and not MB/s, 200Mbps is 25MB/s
Thank you very much. After trying to download for hours with 180kb/s speed and trying more vpn servers thx to you its finally a bit better and downloading 2mb/s . Like you said, it’s not my normal dw speed but still better!
