Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 is finally here and we have to say that this has to be one the best COD title we got in the recent times. Everything about the game looks and feels good. But that doesn’t mean the game is free from performance issues. People have already started reporting about problems like lag, crashes, fps drops, various bug & glitches, etc.
A recent bug has popped up in the game that is causing users to experience a black screen whenever they are trying to play the game. Is there a fix? Lets find out.

What is the black screen bug in COD MW 2019
It is a bug that is causing the game to launch with a black screen for a lot users. The game shows a black screen with nothing on it but the mouse pointer or cursor. And it is not that only the low end gaming PC users are facing this bug. A lot of users who are running high-end gaming rigs with graphics cards like RTX 2070 Super are also facing this issue.
How to fix this bug
There has not been any official fix for this bug from the side of the developers. The good news is the devs are already aware of this bug and they are currently working on a fix. In the meantime you can try fixing this bug by yourself. At least that is what I did. Here are some ways:
Update your Windows 10 OS
This is how I fixed the bug on my PC actually. So I was running a Windows 10 build that was a bit old. Apparently users who are facing this bug are mostly the ones who are using a Windows 10 build that is older than Windows 10 build 1903.
Here is how to check your Windows build:
- Go to your windows search bar
- Type winver
- Click on the result
- Your About Windows box will come up where you can see you Windows build
So if you are using a windows build that is older than 1903 then update your OS as soon as possible.
Repair the game
Repairing the game fixed the bug for a lot of users as well. Battle.net launcher users have the feature to scan and repair a game available on the launcher. Same goes with COD MW 2019. This feature will verify the in-game files of the game and download the missing ones. Here is how to do it:
- Launch Battle.net
- Select Call of Duty : MW from the left side bar
- Click on Options
- Select Scan and Repair
- Wait for the process to be done
- Restart the launcher
