Baldur’s Gate 3 Stuttering and Freezing fix – Baldur’s Gate III is a turn-based RPG developed and published by Larian Studios. It is the third main installation in the Baldur’s Gate series, and is based on the tabletop role-playing system.

The game offers both a single-player and coop/multiplayer element. Players can create one or more characters and form a party along with computer-generated characters to explore the game’s story. Though, neither Nvidia nor AMD has released drivers specifically optimized for Baldur’s Gate 3, it is wise to update your graphics drivers to the latest versions to avoid crashes. Here are the links:

Install the latest build of Windows 10

Baldur’s Gate 3 only runs on Windows 10, that too on 64 bit. So Windows 7 and 8.1 users are out of luck here. Now, Microsoft is known for pushing a ton of updates for Windows. Some end up being good while some end up causing a lot of performance issues. Fortunately, the latest build of Windows 10 is probably the most stable version of Windows we had in a while. So update your OS to the latest version.

Here is how to update:

  1. Go to you Windows Settings
  2. Click on Update & Security
  3. Click on Check for updates
  4. Wait until all the updates are installed
  5. Restart your PC

Considering that a lot of people like to play games like Baldur’s Gate 3 on their gaming laptops, a lot of times they forget to switch to their dedicated graphics card. 3. Click on the Program Settings tab
  4. Under “Select a program to customize” select Baldur’s Gate 3

Try Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling

If you have the latest build of Windows 10 (2004) then you should make use of the brand new feature called hardware-accelerated gpu scheduling. If you have a decent graphics card then you might actually benefit from this. Here is how to turn it on:

  1. Go to Windows 10 settings
  2. Click on System
  3. Select the Display tab on the left
  4. Scroll down and you will notice an option called Graphics Settings at the bottom
  5. Click on it
  6. Turn on Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling
  7. Restart your PC

Wait for patches from Larian Studios

One thing you have to keep in mind, Baldur’s Gate 3 is a brand new game, and is still in Early Access. So expect a ton of patches and updates.

I often see a lot of people buy Early Access titles, without knowing what Early Access actually means. When you buy a EA title, you are actually getting involved with the title as it develops. Early Access games are not complete games, and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play Baldur’s Gate 3 in its current state, then you should get a refund and wait to see if the game progresses further in development.

These are all the fixes we have as of now, for the stuttering and freezing issues in Baldur’s Gate 3. Don’t worry, we will be adding more.
