Assassin’s Creed (AC) Valhalla – War Weary Quest Bug – Is there a fix

It looks like a quest called ‘War Weary‘ is getting bugged for a lot of players in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Here is how to fix it.
ac valhalla - war weary quest bug

War Weary Quest at Sciropescire is bugged in AC Valhalla

What is this bug all about?

AC Valhalla is filled with quests, big and small. And they are all are pretty different from each other. Quests in games like AC Valhalla do the job of educating players about the mechanics and the lore of the game. Without them a RPG title is incomplete.

But it looks like the ‘War Weary’ quest is stopping a lot of people from progressing in the game. The bug wasn’t there before the Patch 1.0.4, so I am pretty sure that it arrived after the latest patch.

There are plenty of posts about this bug on the Ubisoft AC Valhalla forum. Forum user /LycaionKC was the first to post about this bug and here is what the user has to say:

Main Quest in Sciropscire “War Weary” Bug

After Ivarr eliminated Gwriad, the fight starts and somehow Ceolbert gets eliminated. First the Quest continues without him but after eliminating all the soldiers in Quatford, the Quest doesn’t continue because Ceolbert is missing. Can’t talk to anybody. Cant find a way to restart/ reset the Quest. No previous savegame.

A lot users took the time to quickly reply to this post. Here is a word from another user:

I’m stuck with this bug as well. I’ve tried restarting, reloading. i even reloaded a much earlier save and progressed to the quest and got the same bug.

Is there a fix?

Well, there is a fix for this bug, but I am not sure if I would necessarily like to call that a fix. It is more of a workaround. User /Cade4444 was the first person to recommend this solution. Here is what the user has to say:

I GOT A SOLUTION!!!!!
Return to any save that you have before the “war weary” quest and then redo the quest, but this time fight right beside ceolbert the whole time to make sure he doesn’t get eliminated.

This obviously is a solution. But the problem is, this solution is only for those who bothered to manually save the game before going forward with the quest. And I am not sure how many players have actually done it. Though I would highly recommend doing it, considering the amount of time the quests in AC Valhalla get bugged.

A lot of users, who do not have a save, are obviously expressing their frustration. User /Worvert is one of them, he replied:

Unfortunately, my oldest save is the autosave at the end of the fight in the church, at which point Ceolbert is already eliminated. I suppose I should have been keeping older saves, but it’s never really been an issue in an AC game before.

Hopefully this can be fixed, otherwise I’ll be stuck having to restart the game.

You could obviously wait for Ubisoft to release a patch, but I wouldn’t recommend that. Because we all know how that is going to end up.
