It looks like a quest called ‘The Big Finish‘ is getting bugged for a lot of players in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Is there a fix for it yet? Let’s find out.
The Big Finish Quest Bug is preventing a lot of players from progressing in AC Valhalla
What is this bug all about?
AC Valhalla is filled with quests, big and small. And they are all are pretty different from each other. Quests in games like AC Valhalla do the job of educating players about the mechanics and the lore of the game. Without them a RPG title is incomplete.
But it looks like the ‘The Big Finish’ quest is preventing a lot of players from progressing in the game. AC Valhalla has been out for almost a month now. Don’t get me wrong, the game has proven itself to be a really good AC title. But that doesn’t overshadows the fact that even after one month, the game is still infested with bugs and glitches. News bugs keep on popping up almost everyday. It is almost like there is no end to this situation. The developers release patches, some bugs get fixed, but new ones appear.
But The Big Finish quest bug is not really new. It has been out there since the launch of AC Valhalla. And for some reason Ubisoft has not managed to fix it. A forum user with the name /Artimas1995 posted about this issue on the official Ubisoft forums almost 27 days ago. Here is a clear description about the bug by a forum user:
Unable to progress with “The Big Finish”
This occurred after reaching the newly constructed tower. The cutscene where the gods interrogate “The builder” proceeded as normal, I didn’t skip this cut scene and everything played out as usual. The issue came when I was tasked with finding the builders paint, Loki wasn’t with me but instead he was still disguised as Freya near the bridge to the tower. I’ve managed to get him to spawn eventually and opened the door to the room where the paint was held, after defeating the Joten guards I’ve gathered the last drop of Ymir’s tears from the loot chest and I went (teleported) to the shrine and got the 5 skill points. When I went back to the cave Loki was gone and i couldn’t progress the quest.
I tried to load a previous save but it was 2 hours behind in progress…

Is there a fix?
The post actually has a ton of comments from the Ubisoft Support Staff. But all I have seen so far, is them apologizing to the players as there is no fix yet. However, one user with the name /Wahn128 has suggested a workaround. But I don’t think it is for everyone. Here is his assessment:
I had the same issue with getting stuck, but read about a way to resolve it. Just thought I’d share that here and hopefully one or two of you might find it helpful:
- Reloaded to before speaking with the builder
- Watched the Freya switcheroo cutscene
- Walked beside Loki disguised as Freya and waited there for talks playing “why are you still Freya, turn back, bla bla” (at the same time, all of the other spoken messages that I guess were supposed to play in the cave also played)
- Once he transformed back, I walked together with Loki towards the cave (the transformed giants became quest markers at that point; strangely two of the deer somehow made it out of the cave and I had to run them down and shoot them)
- Reached the door in the cave, kicked it in with Loki, eliminated the giants and the paint boxes became quest markers
- Brought one box back, with Loki chatting my ear off on the way there, and putting it down started the boss fight.
- Eliminated the boss and made it out of Asgard

FIXED THE PROBLEM!
Had an issue earlier in the game, so I couldn’t pass a cave. A friend told me to go in to settings and change” FPS LOCK ” down to 60 fps.
This helped me, hope it works for you too.
Another user gave this fix a thumbs up but I am not sure if I would exactly call this a “fix”, because /kbtaylor18 said:
I figured it out and it worked!!!! At least halfway worked, it won’t let me replay the quest, but it let me leave Asgard so I won’t lose any of my data! Thank you so much for posting this!
The good news is the developers are already aware of this bug. If you go to this link and look under “ISSUES ADDRESSED IN FUTURE UPDATE ”. You will notice The Big Finish on the list. Which means the developers have already found a fix and they will ship it with the next path.
