Fire, Smoke and Dust textures/graphics bugged
AC Valhalla has finally launched all over the world. The game has already managed to get insane amount of love from the community for it’s gameplay and RPG elements. And fans are thoroughly enjoying the game so far.
But not everything is perfect with this Ubisoft’s AAA title. A lot of bugs and glitches have already started popping up and the forums are slowly getting filled with posts regarding this bugs.
A lot of players are complaining about a weird dust or smoke texture issue in AC Valhalla. Here is what the user who posted about this bug for the first time has to say about it:
I’m experiencing a bug with smoke/fire in AC Valhalla. The candles and fires in the first area are flickering rapidly and creating large flashes of light across the screen. I have tried various changes to the graphics settings with none of them really help. Putting it on the lowest settings actually makes the problem worse. It’s worse when moving and is also present in the benchmarking.
There is also a Reddit post regarding this issue where the user has actually uploaded a video of the glitch. In his case, the graphics of the dust that is forming when his character is running, is glitching out.
How to fix this issue
Fortunately many users have managed to fixed this issue. It looks like all you have to do is just update your Windows OS. The user who posted the fix for the first time is a Ubisoft forum user, /LKC666, here is what he has to say:
Same problem, now fixed.
You need to update you window 10 system to the latest version.
Hope this can help you.
Though a lot of users didn’t agree to his fix, a lot on the other hand confirmed that the fix is actually working. Forum user /Teeeward along with a lot of other people confirmed the fix:
My windows update was down, so i used the “service.msc” command with WINDOWS+R to relaunch it.
I had a big Windows update and now it work

We would advise that anyone on a older version of Windows should try updating their OS, as not being on the latest update can cause issues.
Anyone on the latest version of Windows, please try running the System File checker to see if anything needs to be repaired and see if it makes a different to the issue. You can see steps for this here.
