It is now a known fact that every time an update comes to Apex Legends, it fixes few thing but also ends up breaking few. Same thing is happening this time. Looks like a lot of players are unable to complete the download. They are getting the “Download Failed” message whenever they are trying to update their game via Origin. And some people are even getting an error message saying “An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again in a few moments. Error: 196620:206“
How to fix the “download failed” bug
I have personally encountered this problem and here are some ways to fix it:
Restart the Origin launcher
Just restart the Origin launcher and it should fix the bug for most you. Make sure you close the launcher from the Task Manager because just hitting the cross button on Origin just minimizes it.
Restart your PC
To be honest, restarting the launcher didn’t fix the problem for me so I just went ahead and restarted my PC. And the download started without any issues the next time.
Repair your game
This is the final method that should fix the issue if the two methods given above didn’t work for you. Here is what you need to do:
- Just go to your Game Library
- Click on Apex Legends
- Click on the Settings icon
- Select Repair
And that is all you have you to do. Just wait few seconds and your download with start again with full download speed.
