Apex Legends controls and keybinds – Welcome to our Apex Controls guide. This guide consists of information about all the default controls for the PC version of Apex.
It is no secret that Apex Legends is a Battle Royale game, and it is also no secret that BR titles are one of the hardest titles in the world. You have to have idea about what you are doing, and make sure that you are doing it right. If not, then you will most probably find yourself spending more time in the lobby, instead of matches.
In a BR game, it is very important that you know what your key bindings are. Otherwise, there is no way you would be able to do good. Apex Legends, is one of those games, that doesn’t require you to learn a lot of keybinds. But, the ones that you have to learn, you have to pretty much engrave them in your brain.
In this guide, I will be showing all the default controls of Apex, and I would also be recommending which controls you should change, and which keys you should replace them with.

Apex Legends Pro Keybinds Setup for PC Players
Before I start lecturing you about what controls you should use in Apex, I would like to tell you that I have been playing Apex Legends since Season 0. The recommendations I have made below, are the ones I have been following since 2019. So, 2022 is pretty much my third year in Apex.
Enough talking, here is my custom controls setup for the PC players of Apex Legends:
- Bind Mouse Scroll Wheel Down to Jump – Trust me, once you make the switch from “Jump with Spacebar” to “Jump with Scroll wheel”, you will notice a huge improvement in your movement, once you get used to it
- Use Left Ctrl for Crouch – If you use C to crouch in Apex Legends, stop that. Using your pinky finger to press Left Ctrl for crouching, will open your index or thumb to more options. Also, use Crouch (Hold), instead of Crouch (Toggle). Otherwise, you won’t be able to use the “crouch spam” method while shooting.
- Bind Right-Click to Aim Down Sight (Hold) – It is 2022. Please stop using ADS (Toggle) in PvP games. Leave that for Single player titles
- Bind your Mouse Button 4 to Melee – This is something that I personally use, and I haven’t regretted my decision even once. During most of my close-range fights, when the opponent is at very low HP, and I am out of ammo in my primary. I prefer to melee, instead of taking out my secondary. And the Mouse Button 4 is the one that I can reach the fastest, as my thumb already rests on it
- Set “Equip Weapon 1” and “Equip Weapon 2” to “X” and “C”, respectively – If you are someone, who doesn’t like to switch weapons with 1 and 2. Try using X and C, instead. You would be able to control both of them very easily with your index finger. At least, it is better than changing weapons with Scroll Wheel
- Bind “V” to “Equip Survival Item” – I personally feel the positioning of the Left Alt key is awkward, that is why I seldom use it in my game. That is why I use V to pull out my Heat Shield.
That is all I would like to recommend to players, who are still comparatively early in Apex Legends and are still trying to figure out the best controls or keybinds setup for them. Then again, everything I have recommended is coming from my personal opinion, and how “I” play the game. You can absolutely choose to ignore it, and figure something out that suits you the best.
If you think this guide has helped you, then let us know in the comment section below. Also, try checking out our other guides on Apex Legends. Who knows, you might end up finding a something you have been looking for.
Thatโs all folks!
